Week 1: Sept. 2, 2017

In Willie Taggart's debut, the Ducks scored 77 points, which is the most since 1916. They also scored points in the uniform world too. Using parts from their well-stocked-closet, they combined a fan-favorite, and very bright apple green and lemon yellow confection. Oddly enough, they have not worn yellow/green/yellow since the 2015 Civil War game! And going back, this combo most resembles the Kenny Wheaton UW game throwbacks from 2014.

The yellow helmet was never used last year!, and in looking back 5 years, I cannot find a green O on yellow helmet! That combo is probably the most iconic going back to the old interlocking UO on yellow helmets.
The green jersey is from game 4 last year where they imitated The Duck mascot.
The yellow pants are from game 2 last year.

All around a good look! Next week they will be sporting all white/silver/yellow for Nebraska, which often has mixed results.

Getting ready for 2017!

It's been a pretty bleak winter for Duck Fans and the uniform front has been REAL quiet, but you get little glimpses from all over the Pac-12 at what the Ducks will be hatching into this season.

SBNation did a nice little roundup today with many Pac-12 related links and discussion about the trend towards simplicity.

While UCLA is being toughed as a poster child for simple, they did pull a page out of Oregon;s uniform playbook and build a Spark presentation all about it:

2017: Pantone Color of the Year is Ducky

Every year, the Pantone company picks a color that they say represents the coming year. If you are a trendsetter, you'll notice that color popping up everywhere from the fashion runway to Target.

For 2017 they picked "Greenery" which is about as close to Oregon's "Apple Green" as you can get! Check out this fun article about it. https://www.fastcodesign.com/3066350/pantones-new-color-of-the-year-is-weird-and-perfect

Here's the all green uniform they wore in the 2015 Rose bowl and also game 4 of the 2015 season. They worse several individual green pieces this past season but not all-green.

So does that mean that 2017 will be a good year for new coach Willie Taggert and the Ducks?

Week 13: November 26, 2016

The Ducks have seemingly settled on one road jersey in this white one with green numerals. This week's Civil War combo is very similar to their week 5 uniform versus WSU, but with an O on the helmet.

Week 12: November 19, 2016

In a season of firsts for Oregon (mostly bad), this week marked the first time in a long time (that I can tell) that they have worn the exact same combination as another week in the same season. While they have come close many times they usually switch up the helmet sticker to make it slightly new. But this week the Ducks reused the all-white kit that they used at USC 2 weeks ago. A much different result though!

Week 11: November 12, 2016

From the light to the dark...Oregon was all white last week at USC, but comes home to face Stanford wearing all dark gray. It was not a full-blackout, ninja outfit that they tend to save for home games against USC. It seemed to continue a blackout military-trend that both ASU and Washington followed this week as well. The somber color scheme seemed to fit the mood of the team and fan-base that was facing its first losing season in a decade.

This uniform seems to finally be the realization of a photoshoot that was tweeted out in July (See my post from then)

Week 10: November 5, 2017

Oregon tried to relive some past glory at the LA Coliseum by what they wore today. It's been 4 years since they played at USC. In 2012 and in 2010, they pulled out "stormtrooper" all-white which in those two years provided a real lift (or maybe the 2010 and 2012 versions of Oregon football were actually pretty good?!)
